The Mathematics Trainers' Guild Phils. (MTG) announced that a total of 106 out of over 600 math aces from all over the country made the cut to become members of the prestigious Philippine Mathematics Team set to compete in various math competitions here and abroad.
MTG head Dr. Simon Chua said the group, which has been mentoring Filipino math wizards and pushing for excellence in math education and training since 1995, has just conducted the four-day 2025 Young Mathematicians' In-house Intensive Training Program (YMIITP) early this month at the Great Eastern Hotel in Quezon City.
More than 700 students, including the math team qualifiers, took part in the July 11 to 14 activity.
Earlier, over 3,000 students nationwide completed MTG's "12 Saturdays" math workshops in its 60-plus training centers nationwide.
"These math wonder kids have overcome the YMIITP challenge and earned the spot in the elite circle of young mathematicians, being the cream of the crop in their respective grade levels," Chua said.
