Authorities in Sorsogon are conducting monitoring after Bulusan Volcano suddenly erupted before dawn on Monday, April 28.

The Emergency Operations Center of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office of Casiguran conducted monitoring in Barangay Mabini as part of their emergency response efforts to ensure public safety.
The MDRRMO urged people to keep safe and pray amid the eruption.
The Philippine Emergency Alerts Monitoring Center warned that ashfall is possible in the southern portion of Casiguran, western portion of Bulusan, Irosin, Juban, Bulan, and Magallanes, coastal areas of Pilar, coastal areas of Donsol, and Claveria in Masbate due to the eruption.
Residents were advised to wear masks to avoid inhaling harmful ashes which may cause respiratory problems. If possible, remain indoors and close all the doors and windows during ashfall, the PEAMC said.
Officials advised people to remain indoors due to ashfall. The Philippine Red Cross is on standby for any emergency.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the eruption began at 4:36 a.m. and lasted 24 minutes, ending at 5 a.m.
