Solo parents in Taguig have been granted a 20-percent discount in tricycle fare through an ordinance enacted by the city government.
Ordinance No. 133, signed on April 16, mandates all tricycle operators to give the discount to registered solo parents who present an official identification card from the Taguig City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
Under the new law, the tricycle fare discount can be availed only by the solo parent, whether traveling alone or accompanied by their child.

Tricycle drivers or operators who refuse to grant the discount will be fined P500 for the first offense, P1,500 for the second offense, P2,000 and a one-month suspension of franchise for the third offense, and P2,500 and possible revocation of franchise for succeeding violations.
Mayor Lani Cayetano said the ordinance aligned with the city government’s obligation to “extend assistance in social service and welfare benefits” to solo parents.
In addition, the city government has implemented other programs for solo parents. These include bread and pastry training with starter kits via the Taguig Manpower Training Center, job placement support, positive parenting seminars designed for solo parents, access to counseling and family support services, health and wellness activities during Women’s Month through the Taguig Cooperative Development Office, issuance of solo parent certifications for housing aid from the National Housing Authority (NHA) and tuition discounts in partner schools, financial assistance under the AICS (Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation) program, and hosting of a Solo Parents Health Summit in partnership with the City Health Office.
The city government also launched a digital Solo Parent ID system featuring QR codes for secure transactions.
It also formally registered its Solo Parent Association as a civil society organization, providing solo parents with a stronger platform for engagement and advocacy.
