The three-headed attack of Leonard Santillan, Gian Mamuyac and Adrian Nocum proved to be too much even for the defending champion as Rain or Shine clobbered Meralco, 128-116, in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Sunday, April 27.

The Elasto Painters trio took turns in punishing the Bolts who seemed to be always a step behind on the defensive end to build a huge advantage en route to their second straight victory after opening the conference with a loss.
Santillan came up huge in holding the fort for Beau Belga and Keith Datu, who were both out due to injuries, dropping a season-high of 27 points to go with seven rebounds and three blocks.
He was amply supported by Mamuyac and Nocum who also breached the 20-point scoring mark with their 24 points apiece.
Gabe Norwood also turned back the hands of time to finish with 12 while anchoring the ROS’ defense that clamped down on Chris Newsome, who the Elasto Painters limited to a single-digit output.
Felix Pangilinan-Lemetti and Jhonard Clarito had 13 and 10 for the Elasto Painters who sent the all-Filipino champions reeling to their third straight defeat.
After a relatively competitive first two frames, the Elasto Painters stepped their foot on the gas pedal in the third frame, unloading a fiery 12-2 run that turned a 68-63 advantage into a double-digit spread, 80-65.
Meralco had some answers behind Chris Banchero and Bong Quinto to at least keep the lead manageable but ROS ended the quarter strong with another 9-2 spurt to erect a 20-point advantage, 102-82, heading into the final frame.
The Elasto Painters would never be threatened from there as the lead even ballooned to as high as 27 before settling with the 12-point win.
Bong Quinto paced the Bolts with 23 points while CJ Cansino and Raymar Jose had 21 apiece off the bench. Their efforts however were not just enough especially with Newsome only mustering three points on just six attempts from the field.
