No information has been revealed by the consulate as of posting time.
“As we await more information about the incident, we pray that our community remains strong and resilient imbued with the spirit of bayanihan during this difficult time,” the statement added.
The Vancouver Police Department, in a social media post, said that a number of people were killed and multiple others were injured during the fatal incident.
Police furthered that the vehicle entered the street where the festival was being held last Friday, April 26 (local time), at around 8 p.m.
Various videos and photos on social media showed bodies, debris, and blood strewn across the road, but authorities have yet to disclose more information about the casualties.
Some of the videos showed at least seven people lying immobile on the ground, while a black car with a crumpled front section could also be seen in some photos.
The driver of the car has already been taken into custody by the police.
