The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said no tropical cyclones are expected to develop within or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) for the remainder of April.
As of Sunday, April 27, PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said that while cloud clusters have been observed far east of Mindanao, the latest monitoring and forecast models show no significant weather disturbances or low pressure areas are likely to intensify into tropical cyclones in the coming days.
He said the easterlies and Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) remain the country's dominant weather systems.
Within 24 hours, the ITCZ will bring cloudy conditions, scattered rains, and thunderstorms to Palawan and Mindanao.
Estareja said the ITCZ is where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge and form rain-bearing clouds.
The warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, known as the “easterlies,” will also cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Eastern Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.
PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides may occur in Palawan, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Mindanao, especially during moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
