LTO summons lady moto-vlogger over viral road rage in Zambales
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) disclosed Friday, May 2, that it has issued a show cause order (SCO) to a popular female motorcycle vlogger after she allegedly flashed a dirty finger and cursed at a pickup truck driver during a heated altercation in Zambales.
LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said “Yanna" moto-vlogger who has 435,000 followers on Facebook, will be asked to explain why her driver’s license should not be suspended or revoked “for being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle”.
The real identity of the summoned motorist was not withheld pending the result of the investigation.
“Matagal na tayong nagpapaliwanag sa milyon-milyong nating mga kababayang motorista na walang mabuting idinudulot ang init ng ulo sa kalsada—at napakarami na ang naparusahan natin dito (We have been explaining for long to millions of our motorists that being hot-headed on the road will do you no good—and we have punished a lot of people because of this),” Mendoza said.
“On the part of this vlogger, she should have used her social media influence to promote responsible driving and road safety,” he added.
Based on the viral video monitored by the LTO Social Media Team, Yanna showed a middle finger gesture to the driver of a pick-up truck over her claim that the latter was driving recklessly.
Later, she was confronted by the pick-up driver to ask why she had to make such a gesture as he also explained that normal driving is not possible on rough roads.
Yanna, however, continued to argue with the pick-up driver and even made insulting comments when the latter had already left.
Department of Transportation Secretary Vice Dizon earlier vowed that the government will fight back against reckless and irresponsible drivers to ensure the safety of all road users amid increasing cases of accidents and road rage.
Yanna has already apologized after being bashed on social media. But the LTO chief said the investigation will still be pursued to teach the lady moto-vlogger a lesson.
