Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon erupted early Monday morning, April 28, sending ashfall to parts of the province, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The eruption began at 4:36 a.m. and lasted 24 minutes, ending at 5 a.m.
Phivolcs said the plume reached an estimated height of 4,500 meters and drifted west-southwest following the eruption.
Ashfall has been reported in the towns of Cogon and Irosin.
Despite the eruption, Bulusan remains under Alert Level 0 (normal), which has been in effect since Nov. 12, 2024.
However, Phivolcs warned of possible steam-driven or phreatic eruptions from the crater and active vents, which could occur suddenly and without warning.
