TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – A candidate for municipal councilor and his two companions were shot and wounded in Barangay Bungad, San Pablo, Isabela on Friday.

The Isabela Police Provincial Office, in a report to the Police Regional Office 2, identified the victims as Mark Jhon Paul Tipon, 34, Sangguniang Bayan candidate in San Pablo; and Mark Francis Antonio, 25, and Jhon Lloyd Duran, 21, residents of Barangay Poblacion, San Pablo.
Police said the victims were riding a pickup truck when a white Toyota Hi-Lux pickup truck with two men onboard appeared and fired at them at 9:40 p.m.
The victims were wounded and taken to the Milagros Albano District Hospital in Cabagan, Isabela and transferred to a hospital in Tuguegarao City.
Police arrested the suspects in a checkpoint at around 11 p.m. in Barangay Poblacion, San Pablo.
The suspects yielded a .45 caliber pistol, a .45 caliber magazine with seven bullets, a black gun holster, four bullets, a fan knife, and the white Toyota Hi-Lux pickup truck.
