A suspected human trafficker has been arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in his attempt to escort two Filipinas to Cambodia, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the suspected illegal recruiter, identified only as "Andy," was arrested last April 19 and is now in the custory of the National Bureau of Investigation-International Airport Investigation Division (NBI-IAID).
“We thank the IACAT (Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking) and the NBI-IAID for their unwavering commitment in pursuing this case to the end,” said Viado.
“Their tireless efforts in building airtight cases against traffickers not only deliver justice for the victims, but also give meaning and purpose to the relentless work of our frontliners at the ports,” he added.
The BI said that "Andy" and the two women posed as friends who were going to HongKong on a vacation.
It said that "Andy" even presented numerous documents of supposed local employment.
“The trio later admitted that they were actually bound for Cambodia after being offered to work as encoders and agents in a call center there,” it also said.
“The victims said that their fake documents were given by their contact that they met on Facebook,” it added.
Also, the BI said that "Andy" admitted “he was facilitating their departure and pretending they are friends, so they can proceed to Cambodia.”
Those intercepted were turned over to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT).
