Mirage G4, L300 join Xpander in driving Mitsubishi Motors' record 2024 sales

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) continues its strong growth momentum in 2024 by notching the second consecutive year of hitting record-high sales.

For the fiscal year 2024, the auto giant posted retail sales of 91,639 units, a 12-percent increase from the previous year. The fiscal year covers April 2024 to March 2025.

The record sales were driven by the Xpander seven-seat crossover MPV, reportedly the country’s best-selling multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

MMPC previously disclosed that its Xpander segment contributes about 30 percent of its total sales.

At the same time, the record sales in fiscal year 2024 were propelled by the long-standing popularity of the Mirage G43 compact sedan and the L300 compact commercial vehicle.

Last year, MMPC accounted for 19.5 percent of the market share, a one percent increase from the previous year’s record.

Mitsubishi Motors executive vice president Tatsuo Nakamura said the Japanese automobile company has contributed to the Philippines’ auto market and overall economy for over 60 years.

“Through the years, we have earned the solid trust of our customers by introducing strategic vehicles to the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) market and developing dealership networks with high brand loyalty,” said Nakamura.

To help cultivate further growth, Nakamura said MMPC will soon be launching the production model of the Mitsubishi DST Concept.

Based on its website, the Mitsubishi DST Concept is the company’s all-new monocoque sport utility vehicle (SUV), offering “three-row seating for customers seeking a full seven-seater with comfort for everyone aboard.”

Based on reports, the Mitsubishi DST Concept is set to be rolled out primarily in the ASEAN region, with the planned launch in the Philippines in fiscal year 2025, from April 2025 to March 2026.

Based on the latest joint data of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), MMPC was the second-biggest auto company in the Philippines based on total vehicle sales during the first quarter of the year.

IPC sold 23.382 units from January to March, a 20-percent hike from the 20,867 units during the same period last year.
