Maynilad's new Pasay water treatment plant nearing completion, set for 2025 operation

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) has announced that its new water facility, poised to boost water service in Pasay City, is nearing completion.

In a statement released today, Friday, April 25, Maynilad said that its ₱700 million new water treatment plant (WTP) is making steady construction progress and is on track to begin operations by December 2025.

The water project is currently about 82 percent complete and, once construction wraps up, is expected to treat 12 million liters per day (MLD), serving approximately 60,000 residents.

Maynilad explained that the facility will employ a multi-stage treatment process to purify water in accordance with national standards set by the Department of Health (DOH).

“Maynilad already operates a similar facility in Parañaque City, which marked the company’s first foray into potable water reuse,” the statement noted.

The company added that the ₱450 million Parañaque WTP was commissioned in 2022 and received its operational permit the following year, currently supplying 5 MLD of safe drinking water to two barangays.

Ramoncito S. Fernandez, president and chief executive officer of Maynilad, emphasized that the concessionaire’s “NEW WATER” initiative is a key strategy for achieving water sustainability.

“It not only provides additional water supply but does so in a way that eases pressure on our traditional sources amid growing demand and the effects of climate change,” Fernandez added.

Maynilad holds the largest water customer base under the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS). It currently serves parts of Manila, Quezon City, Makati, Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas, Malabon, and select areas in Cavite province.
