A Chinese national who reportedly posed as a Filipino and who allegedly owns a financial holdings company with 47 subsidiaries and 97 real estate properties has been arrested in Pasig City.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado identified the Chinese as Lu Tianqu, 32, who was arrested last Thursday, April 24, at a hotel in Pasig City.
Viado said that Lu was arrested after the BI was informed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) that the foreigner "had been misrepresenting himself as a Filipino citizen in numerous transactions throughout the country.”
“Lu was reportedly using a Philippine passport, a Philippine driver’s license, and was found to have registered as a Filipino national,” the BI said.
It also said that Lu's reported real estate properties "are located near critical national infrastructures." No further details were given by the bureau.
“Ang sinumang nagpapanggap bilang Pilipino para makalusot sa ating mga batas ay may pananagutan (Whoever is posing to be a Filipino to escape our laws will be held accountable),” said Viado.
“Sa direktiba ng ating Pangulo, pinalalakas natin ang pagbabantay sa mga banyagang nagtatangkang abusuhin ang ating mga sistema. Hindi tayo papayag na gamitin ang pagiging Pilipino bilang panangga sa iligal na gawain (Under the directive of the President, we have strengthened our monitoring of foreigners who attempt to abuse our system. We won’t allow them to claim to be Filipinos in conducting illegal activities).” he also said.
He added that "government intelligence sources have flagged Lu's presence and activities as potential threats to national security."
Lu is now detained at the BI’s detention facility in Taguig City while awaiting deportation.
