Malacañang has warned the public over looming fake news on the P20 per kilo of rice, saying that the selling of the cheaper rice has not yet started.

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said that fake news peddlers will likely attempt to ruin the administration's program.
"Katulad po ng binanggit ko sa inyo kahapon na mayroon po kaming pasabi na mag-ingat po na malamang ay may manabotahe sa proyekto pong ito ng Pangulo patungkol po sa bente pesos per kilo or kada kilo ng bigas (Like I mentioned yesterday, we told you to be vigilant over possible efforts to sabotage the President's project about the P20 per kilo of rice)," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Friday, April 25.
"Mag-ingat po tayo sa fake news peddlers, sinisira ang proyekto, sinisira ang Pangulo, sinisira ang hope, ang pag-asa ng bawat Pilipino (Beware of fake news peddlers, they are ruining the project, they are ruining the President, ruining the hope of every Filipino)," Castro added.
The Palace official reminded the public that although it has been announced that the price of rice will go down to P20, first in the Visayas region, the project has yet to be rolled out.
"Hindi pa po naro-roll out itong mga ibibentang bigas. Hintayin na lang po natin kapag natapos na po iyong guidelines at nailabas na po ito, at saka natin maipapakita kung ano ba ang magiging resulta para sa mga kababayan natin lalo na kapag nasa laylayan ng lipunan ((The rice that will be sold has not yet been rolled out. Let's wait until the guidelines are finalized and released, and only then can we show what the outcome will be for our fellow citizens, especially those who are marginalized in society)," Castro said.
Castro also said that no rice has been out for selling yet and it is already being criticized.
On Thursday, Malacañang also stressed that President Marcos' move to fulfill his promise to lower the price of rice to as low as P20 per kilo, at least in the Visayas region, was not a political move.
It has also been announced that the rice that would be sold at a lower price is the same kind of rice being sold for P33 per kilo prior to the President's directive.
