Governor visits victims, pledges assistance


The provincial government pledged assistance to all victims of a bus accident on Thursday, April 24, in Burgos, La Union.

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David visited the victims, most of them La Union residents, recovering in hospitals in the province on Friday.

The driver reportedly lost control of the bus bound for San Fernando City, La Union, from Baguio City and crashed into the foundation of the welcome arch on the Naguilian Road in Sitio Bilision at 6:35 p.m.

Forty-one persons, including the driver and the conductor, were injured.

Passengers escaped through the windows and rescuers took two hours to free the trapped driver and conductor who remained conscious. 

Some victims were brought to hospitals in Baguio City. (With a report from JJ Landingin)
