The reminder was issued following a grass fire incident in Barangay Karuhatan on Thursday, April 24.

Authorities said that a man was caught burning waste that triggered the fire. He was promptly issued an Ordinance Violation Receipt (OVR) by the Task Force Disiplina (TFD).

The action was taken in accordance with City Ordinance No. 557, Series of 2019, also known as the “Health and Sanitation Code of the City of Valenzuela,” which banned open burning to prevent fire hazards and protect public health.

The city government said the incident highlights the need for strict enforcement of environmental regulations and active community cooperation to ensure public safety and maintain environmental quality.

Residents are urged to dispose of their waste properly and to report any violations to help prevent similar incidents in the future. (Jhoana Mae Delfin)
