Good impressions last: Tulfo bags endorsements from local execs who liked his stint as DSWD chief

ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo's stint as Department of Social Welfare and Development secretary might have been short, but it has served him well in his bid for a Senate seat in the upcoming mid-term polls.

Thanks to the lasting impressions that Tulfo left in provinces such as Pampanga and Quirino during his tenure as DSWD chief, local officials there have come out in full support of his candidacy.

Tulfo and the rest of the administration-backed Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial ticket visited Pampanga on Wednesday, April 24. Vice Governor Lilia Pineda of the influental local Pineda political clan was among those who hosted the slate.

Pineda gave quite the glowing endorsement for the broadcast journalist-turned-congressman.

“Erwin Tulfo is the number one Senator in Pampanga because he has always been supportive of the province—from his time as secretary of the [DSWD) up to now. Kapampangans will support him as he seeks a Senate seat,” the lady official stated.

Tulfo also received a warm welcome during his recent visit to Quirino.

Local leaders there led by Governor Dakila “Dax” Cua and Congresswoman Midy Cua attested to the Alyansa bet's strong compassion and support for Quirino citizens eversince he was still at the helm over at DSWD.

Tulfo held the Cabinet post from June 30, 2022 to Dec. 27, 2022. The Cuas said his assistance to the province continued in his capacity as ACT-CIS Party-list representative.

Aside from the Cuas, other local officials such as Quirino Vice Governor Jojo Vaquilar, Aglipay Mayor Jerry Agsalda, Saguday Mayor Jerry Pagbilao, Diffun Mayor May Calaunan, Cabarroguis Mayor Avelino Agustin, Maddela Vice Mayor Joel Badongen, members of the legislative councils, and barangay captains all backed Tulfo's Senate bid.

It can be recalled that during the time of Tulfo as the Social Welfare Secretary, he has been proactive in delivering social services and aid to Quirino. This continued when he assumed the position as Representative of ACT-CIS Party-list.

“I am deeply grateful with the trust and confidence that the Quirino leadership has given me. My love and support for Quirino has always been strong and if given a chance that I will be elected Senator in the upcoming elections, our service not only for Quirino, but to the entire country will only get better. I will not waste this support,” Tulfo said.

As far as registered voters are concerned, Pampanga has 1.68 million, while Quirino has 130,000.
