The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has announced that it has withdrawn the third runner-up title from Suchata "Opal" Chuangsri from Thailand, allegedly for breach of contract.
The MUO did not identify the beauty queen, but Suchata was the third runner-up at the 2024 Miss Universe Competition, which was held in Mexico in November.
Pageant organizers found out that Suchata will represent Thailand at the 2025 Miss World beauty pageant in India on May 31.
The full statement issued by the MUO as uploaded on its website on April 22:
"The Miss Universe Organization is committed to promoting empowerment, leadership, and positive representation of women worldwide.
"We hold our winners to high standards and ensure they embody these values throughout their 12-month reign.
"Recently, we have discovered that TPN Global did not comply with the protocols set by the National Directors (ND) by sending a Miss Universe Queen to participate in another pageant before completing her reign. We deeply regret any incidents where these actions have violated our internal protocols and expectations.
"The role of a Miss Universe winner is not only an honor but also a responsibility that requires dedication and respect for the commitments agreed upon.
"For this reason, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw the third runner-up title from the person who had been honored with it, due to the breach of her contractual obligations by participating in an external pageant.

"This decision underscores our expectation that all winners fulfill their duties throughout their entire reign. The actions of the ND compromise the decorum and professionalism of the Queen’s full 12-month service.
"Therefore, starting May 1, 2025, the Miss Universe Organization will emphasize and enforce strict regulations for all National Directors (ND) regarding this specific matter.
"Our shared goal is to empower the Miss Universe family to maintain mutual respect, faith, and trust among all its members.
"Our primary mission is to inspire and empower through the Miss Universe brand, providing opportunities for the personal and professional growth of all involved. We appreciate our supporters, partners, and contestants for their understanding and commitment to the principles upon which the Miss Universe Organization is founded."
Grateful
On Instagram, Suchata said she is grateful to represent Thailand at the Miss World stage next month. Her full post:
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m beyond grateful for all the love, support, and encouragement you’ve shared with me on this journey. Standing here today as Miss World Thailand 2025 is possible because of each and every one of you.
"Every kind word, every message, every bit of support has truly touched my heart. I promise to carry this honor with love, purpose to create meaningful change contribute to society and pride for Thailand," she wrote.
It also seems the issue does not bother the Thai beauty queen anymore as she proudly poses wearing the Miss World Thailand sash on social media.
