Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC continued to dominate and tossed PLDT out of contention with a 25-13, 25-22, 25-20 win to punch its semifinal ticket in the 2025 AVC Women’s Volleyball Champions League at the Philsports Arena Thursday, April 24.

Despite the High Speed Hitters getting off to a strong start in the third set, Zhetysu made a series of counters, with Tatyana Nikitina and Karyna Denisova leading the way to prevail in their knockout duel that lasted for one hour and nine minutes.
Zhetysu, which was a nine-time winner in the Kazakh pro league, remained unscathed and advanced to the semis that is set on Saturday, April 26, where it awaits its foe between Creamline or Thailand’s Nakhon Ratchasima Qmin C.
PLDT finished the tournament with one victory to show -- a 25-19, 25-12, 25-12 win over Australia’s Queensland Pirates.
Creamline and Petro Gazz carry the fight for the host nation with the latter team plunging into quarters action Friday, April 25, against China’s Beijing BAIC Motor.
Another knockout clash features Taipei’s Kaohsiung Taipower against Vietnam’s VTV Binh Dien Lon An.
Nikitina listed 19 points built on 14 attacks, four blocks, and one ace to pace Zhetysu. Denysova and Yuliia Dymar contributed 15 and 11 points, respectively.
Spearheading PLDT's offense was Savannah Davison as she unloaded 13 points on 12 kills and one block, while Wilma Salas added 11 points. Dell Palomata shone for the locals with seven points in a losing cause.
Meanwhile, Nakhon Ratchasima Qmin C VC stamped its class and gave Creamline a 25-15, 25-22, 25-16 beatdown to advance to the semifinal.
With its victory, Nakhon set up a semis duel against fellow unblemished squad Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu, while the Cool Smashers, on the other hand, went straight to the exit gates.
Creamline claimed its lone win in the prelims at the expense of Jordan’s Al Naser Club, 25-16, 25-17, 25-17.
Anyse Smith paced the six-time Thai league champion with her 13 points on 11 attacks, one block, and one ace. Seasoned hitter Onuma Sittirak and Sasipapron Janthawisut provided the support with 12 points each.

With PLDT and Creamline now eliminated, Petro Gazz remains as the last hope of the host Philippines in the volleyball joust.
