
Dagupan City, Pangasinan endured a sweltering heat on Thursday, April 24, as its heat index soared to a scorching 46 degrees Celsius (°C), based on the monitoring of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
This reading was the day’s highest recorded heat index across PAGASA’s monitoring stations nationwide, with 18 others also reaching dangerorus levels.
PAGASA classifies heat indices between 42°C and 51°C as within the “danger level,” as it poses significant health risks such as heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Prolonged exposure under such conditions may also lead to heatstroke.
Panglao, Bohol followed with a heat index of 44°C.
Other areas reported heat indices between 42°C and 43°C including, Bacnotan, La Union; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Baler, Aurora; Iba, Zambales; Camiling, Tarlac; Tanauan, Batangas; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Cuyo, Palawan; Pili, Camarines Sur; Dumangas, Iloilo; Olongapo City, Zambales; Infanta, Quezon; Legazpi City, Albay; Masbate City, Masbate; and Roxas City, Capiz.
