SANTO TOMAS CITY, Batangas – A 34-year-old vegetable vendor was shot dead and his two companions were wounded in Barangay San Roque, this city, on Tuesday afternoon, April 22.
Police identified the fatality as Joseph Gonzaga and wounded were Mariz Bicaldo, 39, and Myra Villanueva, 47.
Investigation said the victims were onboard a tricycle to this city when two men riding a motorcycle shot them.
Gonzaga died on the spot and his companions were taken to the Santo Tomas General Hospital.
Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells and one 45 caliber bullet.
Meanwhile, a man was gunned down in Barangay Uno, Calamba City, Laguna, on Tuesday.
Police said the victim, Efraim Melodillar, was driving his motorcycle when gunmen riding a black Mio motorcycle appeared and shot him. Melodillar died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds.
In Calauag, Quezon, aa 31-year-old soldier was killed in a motorcycle accident in Barangay Santa Maria on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Corporal Ariel Ponayo.
Police said Ponayo lost control of his motorcycle after he avoided a pothole. Ponayo crashed and went under a reefer van.
The victim was taken to a hospital in Calauag where he was declared dead.
A 19-year-old student suffering from epilepsy drowned while swimming in a beach in Sitio Panutsutan, Barangay Balaytigue, Nasugbu, Batangas on Tuesday.
Investigation said the victim Justine Tejeresas was swimming with friends when he disappeared.
The victim was recovered and taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Police said the victim passed out due to epilepsy and had been underwater for about 20 minutes before his body was recovered.
Police are conducting follow-up investigations on the two shooting incidents.
