Government anti-narcotics authorities seized on Tuesday, April 22, around P3.6 million worth of suspected ecstasy during an interdiction operation at the Port of Manila.
In a statement, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said the Bureau of Customs (BOC) x-ray inspector noticed that the parcel contained suspicious substances during the scanning process.
Further K9 inspection confirmed the presence of 2,136 pieces of dark gray tablets suspected to be ecstasy, which were concealed in white plastic bottles.
The parcel was shipped from Germany and was misdeclared as vitamins.
“The shipper and intended recipient are currently under investigation. Appropriate charges will be filed for Republic Act No. 9165 violations, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,’’ the PDEA stated.
The drug evidence will be submitted to the PDEA Laboratory Service for laboratory examination.
