BACOLOD CITY – Police released a 37-year-old Indian national involved in a Good Friday accident in Barangay Alangilan here on Tuesday, April 22.

Police Major Joeil Reclamado, head of Police Station 5, confirmed that Jarpreet Singh was released from police custody at around 7 p.m. after he posted P60,000 bail.
Reclamado said that they have done their part to ensure the filing of a case against Singh. “It is now up to him to face the complaint in court,” he added.
Singh was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to properties before the City Prosecutor’s Office on Monday night, April 21.
Three people were killed and 17 others, including two police officers, were injured after Singh, who was driving a multi-purpose vehicle, crashed into a tricycle and rammed into Catholic devotees during a n April 18 procession.
Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod police director, said that they will file another complaint against Singh for violation of Republic Act 10586 or the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013 after he tested positive for alcohol in a liquor test.
Mayor Albee Benitez said that the city will check if Singh is a legitimate resident and has a working permit here.
Benitez said that they will also check his permits and licenses connected to his business activities. “All of these will be investigated and we will act accordingly,” he added.
He said that the city government has extended medical and psychological assistance to all the victims. “We will extend as far as we can because it’s an unfortunate tragic event. We will help all the victims,” he added.
Benitez said that they will also wait for the recommendation of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) to extend any additional assistance to victims. “We have always been generous,” he added.
