Police Regional Office 10-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Joann G. Navarro said 81 firearms and 703 bullets were confiscated from January 12 to April 20.
Violators were caught in checkpoints and intelligence-driven operations, she said.
“All the apprehended individuals are now facing charges for violating the election gun ban in different courts in the region,” Navarro said.
PRO 10-Director Police Brig. Gen. Jaysen C. de Guzman lauded operating units for their achievements.
“These results underscore our commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and credible 2025 national and local elections,” he said.
“The seizure of these firearms and arrest of violators is a clear message that we will not tolerate any form of threat to public safety during this critical period,” De Guzman said.
De Guzman reminded the people that the gun ban is in effect until June 11 and urged them to comply with election-related laws and report suspicious activities to the police.
Meanwhile, three New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendered to the Butuan City Police Office during the Holy Week.
BCPO Director Police Col. Rommel D. Villamor, in a report to Police Regional Office-13 chief Police Brig. Gen. Christopher N. Abrahano, identified the surrenderers as Ka Dez, 58; Ka Kwin, 39; and Ka Bad 34.
They surrendered after weeks of negotiations and turned over guns and bullets, Villamor said.
“They really wanted now to leave peaceful life with their respective family, and be productive in their respective communities,” the BCPO chief said.
Villamor said they are still under debriefing and further documentation for enrollment in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program that will enable them to avail of cash and livelihood assistance from the government.
Abrahano commended the BCPO for assisting the communist rebels in their return to mainstream society.
