Zamboanga City mayoral candidate found dead

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A mayoral candidate and head of a militia group was found dead inside his residence in Barangay Guiwan here on Tuesday, April 22.

The candidate was identified as Orlando San Luis Negrete, 80, chairman of the Zamboanga Militia.

His body was found  sitting at the house garage by another militiaman.

Prior to the body’s discovery, Negrete reportedly failed to answer calls and could not be contacted by members of the militia.

This prompted them to go to the house and check on Negrete. 

The candidate was reportedly diagnosed with hypertension and believed to have died of natural causes four days prior.

He was running  as an independent candidate.
