The country’s doninant political party, the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD), is throwing its full political machinery behind the goal to secure victories for all 11 senatorial candidates under the Marcos administration-backed Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate.

Thus, said House Speaker Martin Romualdez, the Lakas-CMD president and top Marcos lieutenant who expressed in no uncertain terms his desire to give Alyansa a "sweeping victory" in the May 12 mid-term elections.

“Please lang, please. Straight Alyansa. Diinan natin lahat sila, walang iwanan dito. Ito ang gusto ng ating mahal na Pangulo (Please, please. Let's support straight Alyansa. Let's push for them and leave no one behind. This is what out beloved President wants)," Romualdez told his party-mates from all over the country during the Lakas-CMD National Meeting on Tuesday, April 22 in Malacañang.

Comprising the Alyansa ticket are former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III; former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) secretary Benhur Abalos; former Senators Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao; Senators Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Francis Tolentino; Makati City Mayor Abby Binay; House Deputy Majority Leader ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo, and House Deputy Speaker Las Piñas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar.

Only Villar was absent during the event, which assembled governors, lawmakers, city mayors, and local leaders from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

In his call to action, Romualdez stressed before this fellow Lakas-CMD stalwarts that the Alyansa 11 were the tried and tested partners of the Marcos administration.

"These are the right candidates. This is the future of the Philippine Senate and the Republic of the Philippines...These are the best candidates for the Philippine Senate...Dapat talaga diretso tayo dito sa Alyansa, no ifs and buts about it. Ito talaga ang hinihingi ko sa inyo (We should really support straight Alyansa, no ifs and buts about it. This is really my request to you),” said the Leyte 1st district congressman.

“The victory of the Alyansa is the victory of the people. Our citizens are tired of the noise, drama, and political grandstanding. What they demand is unity, delivery, and continuity—and that’s exactly what this slate offers," said the Speaker.

Lakas-CMD leaders, led by House Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” M. Dalipe (Executive Vice President), Agusan del Norte Rep. Jose “Joboy” S. Aquino II (Secretary General), Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr., and Deputy Speaker David “Jay-Jay” Suarez backed Romualdez’s call to rally behind President Marcos’s senatorial candidates.

Some of the governors who attended include Fred Castro (Aklan), Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu (Sultan Kudarat), Alonto Mamintal Adiong (Lanao de Sur), Abdusakur Tan (Sulu), Peter Unabia (Misamis Oriental), Xavier Jesus Romualdo (Camiguin), Melchor Diclas (Benguet), James Edduba (Kalinga), and Jose Miraflores (Aklan), and others.

The Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas--and by extension, the broader pro-Marcos coaltion--is composed of five major political parties. These are Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), chaired by President Marcos himself; Lakas-CMD; Nacionalista Party (NP), National Unity Party (NUP), and Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).

Romualdez said the Alyansa line-up reflects the party’s deep bench of experience and reformist energy. “This is not just a Senate campaign—it is a grassroots movement for good governance. The engine of national progress is local governance."

He underscored that Lakas-CMD, as the country’s dominant political party recognized by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), has a historic responsibility not just to win, but also to lead.

“This is not business as usual. This is a mission. We are not simply endorsing candidates—we are rallying behind a shared vision aligned with the values and direction of President Marcos,” the Speaker added.
