Quezon City top cop sacked over viral 'police abuse' video; involved police sarge arrested

The district director of the Quezon City Police District, Police Brig. Gen. Melecio Buslig Jr., was sacked from his post over the alleged abuses committed by a police sergeant, the incident was caught in the video and is now viral on social media.
Police Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said the relief of Buslig is a strong message of what would happen if police commanders would fail to institute discipline among their men.
“The relief of Police Brigadier General Buslig is a firm demonstration of command responsibility and a reminder that accountability does not stop at the individual level—it starts at the top,” said Marbil.
“We are drawing a hard line. There is no room in the PNP for predators in uniform. The Filipino people deserve peacekeepers, not perpetrators,” he added.
Police Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said one of the lapses committed by Buslig was his failure to inform him about the incident as well as the courses of action that were initiated to address the problem.

NCRPO director Police Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin explains why the Quezon City top cop was sacked from his post following a viral video of an alleged police abuse.
Aberin said he only learned of action taken from the Baler Police Station commander in Quezon City who led a team to arrest the police sergeant involved on the incident.
“He may have presumed that I was already aware of the incident. But cases like this should immediately be reported so that proper actions and solutions could be done in the soonest possible time,” said Aberin.
Police Col. Randy Glenn Silvio was named as officer-in-charge of the QCPD.
What happened
The police sergeant was already arrested and is now facing multiple criminal and administrative charges.
Aberin said it all started when the police sergeant barged into the house of the complainant early morning on Tuesday, April 22, in Barangay Damayan in Quezon City. The policeman was allegedly drunk when the incident happened.
While inside the house, the police sergeant allegedly confronted and accused the complainant of wrongdoing which resulted in a heated altercation. The complainant also alleged that the suspect inflicted physical injuries on her minor daughter.
The incident was captured on a video, which went viral after it was uploaded on social media.
The police sergeant was already disarmed of his service firearm and was placed under police custody.
Zero-tolerance
Aberin said the arrest of the errant cop is proof of a no-tolerance policy against all forms of illegal acts perpetrated by police scalawags.
“NCRPO’s policy against police officers who are violating the law is non-negotiable. You will be arrested, charged and removed from the PNP, in accord with due process of law,” said Aberin.
“There is no second chance for police scalawags,” he added.
