Parts of Mindanao to experience cloudy skies, scattered rains due to ITCZ — PAGASA
The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), a weather system formed by the merging of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres, will continue to affect Mindanao, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, April 22.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will continue to experience hot and humid conditions due to warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, known as the “easterlies.”
PAGASA warned that the the ITCZ may trigger flash floods or landslides in Davao Region, Sarangani, South Cotabato, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, particularly in areas vulnerable to these hazards, during moderate to heavy rainfall.
The rest of Mindanao can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.
PAGASA also said the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, but isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening, may still occur.
The public is advised to remain vigilant for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
