The Las Piñas City government on Tuesday, April 22, joined the Catholic faithful in the country and around the world in mourning Pope Francis' passing.
Â
Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the passing of Pope Francis is deeply felt in the community of Las Piñas where faith continues to be a source of strength and unity.Â
Â
Aguilar said the city of Las Piñas recognized his legacy not only through his global influence but in the everyday lives of those he inspired to serve, forgive, and love.
   Â
Las Piñeros are offering prayers for the eternal repose of Pope Francis and expressed their deepest condolences to the church and the people he faithfully served.
Â
Aguilar said Pope Francis will be remembered as a shepherd who led with humility, compassion, and moral courage.
Â
"Pope Francis was the first Jesuit and Latin American Pope. He had opened doors that had long remained closed, championing the poor, reaching out to the forgotten, and reminding the world that the heart of the church is mercy," she said.
Â
Aguilar said Pope Francis has brought renewed meaning to service and simplicity, and his words often served as light in times of division and despair. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
