BSP Mobile app aims to improve public access to financial services

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) officially launched “BSP Mobile” app last April 14, aiming to make financial information and services more accessible to Filipinos and investors.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 22, the BSP highlighted the app’s features and purpose.

“BSP Mobile app is our way of staying connected with the public. It allows users to check key rates and public announcements, locate coin deposit machines or BSP offices, file complaints through our chatbot BOB, and stay updated with BSP news and advisories,” said BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, who led the launching ceremony at the BSP’s head office in Manila.

“This new platform aims to enhance your experience and encourage greater interaction with the BSP. Once downloaded, the app can be accessed anytime, even offline, and offers personalization to match your specific needs and interests,” BSP Managing Director Charina B. De Vera-Yap, for her part, said, highlighting the app’s user-focused features.

“With the official launch of BSP Mobile app, we look forward to all of us becoming champions, promoting the app, and helping improve it through your valuable feedback,” said BSP Director Reynaldo Florencio T. Zipagan, emphasizing the importance of user engagement.

Developed in-house, the app complements the BSP website and is optimized for mobile use, taking advantage of device-specific features such as push notifications and location services.

Key features include a service locator to find BSP regional offices; real-time push notifications for BSP news and advisories; BSP online buddy (BOB) for filing complaints against BSP-supervised institutions; and an interactive module on the 1,000-piso polymer banknote that showcases its design and security features.

Monetary Board members Benjamin E. Diokno, Rosalia V. De Leon, and Jose L. Querubin, along with BSP Deputy Governors Chuchi G. Fonacier and Mamerto E. Tangonan, also attended the launch.

The BSP said it continues to improve the app and will introduce additional features in future updates. BSP Mobile is available for download on Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
