Fire Officer 2 Rolin Paulan, chief arson investigator of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod, said the victim, a stay-in employee in the compound, might have attempted to contain the fire, resulting in burn injuries in the stomach.
Paulan said that 11 old buses owned by One Communities South Hill were destroyed. Nine were completely and two were partially destroyed.
He said that the fire started due to electrical arcing. A bunkhouse roof was blown off and struck a service line, causing a live wire to fall onto one of the buses. This contact triggered an ignition leading to the fire, Paulan said.
The BFP received a fire call at 1:52 p.m. Damage to property in the fire was pegged at P20,000. Fire out was declared at 2:21 p.m.
