The Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday, April 21, said private schools that offer basic education may adopt the school opening set for public schools in June.

Dennis Legaspi, Media Relations Chief from the Office of DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara, said private schools in the Philippines may begin their classes as early as June 16, aligning with the recently announced school calendar for School Year (SY) 2025–2026.
"Private schools may adopt DepEd’s school calendar,” Legaspi said. “They may also set their own start of classes, provided they comply with the School Calendar Law, which states that the school year shall start on the first Monday of June but not later than the last day of August,” he added.
Legaspi noted that under the law, the school year shall consist of no more than 220 class days.
The incoming school year will consist of 197 days.
In DepEd Order No. 012, series of 2025, dated April 15, the agency announced that SY 2025–2026 will begin on June 16, 2025, and end on March 31, 2026.
