Actress Janine Gutierrez has expressed her support for former senator Bam Aquino, who is running in the upcoming May 12, 2025 midterm elections.

Gutierrez, who is currently mourning the deaths of her grandmothers and showbiz icons Nora Aunor and Pilita Corales, shared a video on her Instagram stories of a mother thanking Aquino for passing the Free College Law, which enabled her child to earn a nursing degree from the Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU).
“Nagpapasalamat po ako kay Senator Bam Aquino. Dahil po sa kanya, nakatapos po ang anak ko ng nursing (I thank Senator Bam Aquino. Because of him, my child finished nursing),” the mother told Aquino during his visit to the Balanga Public Market in Balanga, Bataan.
This followed Anne Curtis’ support of Aquino, whom she accidentally met at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2.
The actress has repeatedly expressed her support for the former senator—first, by sharing a post by comedian Alex Calleja, who appealed to voters to include Aquino in the list of candidates they’ll be voting for; second, by reposting Aquino’s X (formerly Twitter) post asking for voters’ support; and third, by including their photo in her March photo dump post on Instagram.
Curtis even captioned her March carousel photo dump with, “Bumped into someone I'm voting for!” followed by the No. 5–Aquino’s number on the ballot—hand sign emoji.
Meanwhile, entertainment reporter and talent manager Ogie Diaz lauded Aquino’s mother, Melanie Aquino, for tirelessly campaigning for her son across the country.
“Nakakatuwa ‘yung nanay ni Bam Aquino, ang sipag mangampanya para manalong Senador ang anak (It’s nice to see Bam Aquino’s mother campaigning for her son to win as senator),” Diaz said on his Facebook page, sharing Melanie’s video while campaigning.
“Wag kang mag-alala, mommy! Kahit hindi ko pa po kayo nakikita at nakakamayan, iboboto ko po si Bam Aquino #5 sa balota (Don’t worry, mommy! Even if I haven’t seen you or shook your hand, I will vote for Bam Aquino, #5 in the ballot),” he added.
He earlier endorsed Aquino in his YouTube show, Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update.
The elder Aquino has been campaigning around the country, retracing her roots in Davao City, and visiting various cities in Metro Manila—Pasay, Quezon City, and Parañaque—and Laguna province.
Friends and volunteers accompanied her to hand out leaflets and engage with people to convince them to vote for the former senator.
“Ako po iyong nanay ni Bam. Ipagdasal niyo po si Bam at ipagkampanya niyo na rin po (I am Bam’s mother. Please pray and campaign for Bam),” she said, while handing out flyers that detail Aquino’s track record and experience.
For his part, the former senator expressed his heartfelt appreciation for his mother’s dedication and help, thanking her and her friends who joined his campaign.
“Lord, thank you for my mom. Malaking inspirasyon siya sa aking kampanya ngayon. At sobrang nagpapasalamat ako sa kaniya at sa kaniyang mga kaibigan sa Ladies of Charity na kumakayod para ipakilala at ikampanya tayo (She’s a huge inspiration to my campaign now. And I am hugely thankful to her and her friends in the Ladies of Charity who are working to introduce me and campaign for me),” he wrote on Facebook.
Recently, Aquino broke into the Magic 12 of the March surveys by Pulse Asia, WR Numero, and OCTA Research.
He garnered 28.6 percent in the Pulse Asia survey, jumping from 15th to 17th place in Feb. to a spot in the Top 12. He also placed 12th in the latest WR Numero survey with a 26.4 percent rating.
