The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has successfully facilitated the employment of 3,572 jobseekers through 128 job fairs conducted nationwide from January to early April this year.
In a statement, DOLE Assistant Secretary Patrick Patriwirawan Jr. reported that 244,000 job vacancies were made available by 2,253 employers representing various industries.
The job fairs were held in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive to bring government services closer to the people, with DOLE coordinating efforts with agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH).
Patriwirawan, who also serves as officer-in-charge of DOLE’s Bureau of Local Employment, said several job fairs were conducted across Metro Manila, including in Quezon City, Makati, Pasay, Las Piñas, Manila, and Valenzuela from Mar. 14 to 31.
Industries with high demand for workers included information technology and business process management (IT-BPM), transport and logistics, hotel and restaurant services, manufacturing, and wholesale and retail trade.
He also encouraged new graduates and other jobseekers to visit the nearest Public Employment Service Office (PESO) or check the official DOLE website for updated job opportunities.
