A total of 442 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) are eligible to vote in the May 12 elections, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.

In a statement, the BuCor said those eligible to vote in the local and national elections were known after conducting an information drive last April 10.
It said the information drive was led by BuCor's Legal Service Chief C/SInsp. Nancy P. Pun-ad.
“The primary goal of the information drive was to offer clear instructions on how to effectively cast their votes, thereby providing PDLs with the knowledge necessary to choose their preferred candidates in the upcoming election,” it said.
During the 2022 elections, a total of 1,732 PDLs from different BuCor facilities nationwiide exercised their right to vote.
Those who voted in 2022 were 557 from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City; 81 from the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; 129 from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City; 338 from LRP; and 627 from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte. the BuCor said.
