ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two persons were killed and 14 individuals were injured when a delivery van lost its brakes and rammed six vehicles in a chain collision on Black Saturday in front of a police station in Dumalinao municipality, Zamboanga del Sur province.

Investigation by the Dumalinao police showed that a delivery van by a known forwarding company initially lost its brakes and crashed into a Nissan Navara pickup truck driven by 50-year-old Edgar.
A 76-year-old passenger identified as Lolita was killed on the spot while a 16-year-old passenger, Lyka, was injured.
The Nissan Navarra rammed an Isuzu minivan which injured six female passengers.
The pickup truck ended up on a river bed.
Other vehicles which figured in the collision were an Isuzu Bongo truck, a motorcycle, and two tricycles whose passengers all sustained injuries.
Aside from Lolita, a local dispatcher who was standing by the roadside was killed while fourteen individuals sustained injuries.
The delivery van driver, identified as 29-year-old Ricky, surrendered to police.
The van was on its way to Pagadian City when it encountered brake malfunction.
The injured were taken to the hospital.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
