19 homes destroyed in Black Saturday fire

BACOLOD CITY – Nineteen houses were razed by a fire in Talaba-an, Barangay Zone 1, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Black Saturday, April 19.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Cadiz said 16 houses were completely destroyed and three were partially damaged.

The fire immediately spread as the houses were made of light materials. No injuries were reported in the fire.

Damage to property was placed at P200,000. Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.

The BFP is coordinating with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to consolidate the number of affected households.

The barangay is calling for donations for fire victims. These could be drinking water, clothes and blankets, food, and hygiene kits.
