“The composite team of the Philippine Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar had met with the officials handling the search and rescue on site as well as officials of the Mandalay General Hospital to ascertain confirmation of identities of rescued or recovered foreigners from the Sky Villa building rubble,” an advisory from the embassy read.

“At this time, no positive identification has been made for any rescued persons or recovered cadavers in connection with the four (4) Filipinos who are presumed in the rubble,” it added. “Our thoughts are with the families of the unaccounted for Filipinos during this difficult time.”

Search and retrieval operations are still ongoing, the embassy furthered.

According to the embassy, its personnel also met with the 11 Filipinos who survived the collapse of the  Sky Villa building “to solicit more useful information.”

“The Embassy remains in close coordination with relevant authorities and is exerting all efforts to ascertain the status of our nationals,” it assured.

Filipinos in Mandalay, where the building was located, can reach out to the embassy through its Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) hotline at +95998521 0991 or the Filipino coordinators there.

The Philippines sent the first batch of contingent who will provide disaster response and humanitarian assistance in quake-hit Myanmar on Tuesday, April 1.

The 91-member team is composed of personnel from the Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force (PAF), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Health (DOH), and the private sector.

There were also coordinators from the Office of Civil Defense.

The death toll in Myanmar has already exceeded 2,700, the latest reports from foreign media showed, as the likelihood of finding survivors fades after the first 72 hours.

There are currently 441 missing in Myanmar, including the four Filipinos still unaccounted for.
