Negros Oriental content creator apologizes for viral stunt


BACOLOD CITY – A content creator from Bacong, Negros Oriental apologized to authorities for the content he posted online over the weekend that sparked public outrage.

Police Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson for the Negros Oriental police, said that the content creator posted a video on social media showing him with a pillow and a blanket before lying down on the middle of the road as cars passed by in Bacong.

Polinar said that the Highway Patrol Group (HPG)-Negros Oriental looked for the content creator and identified him.

The content creator, Jerome, appeared before Police Senior Master Sgt. Aurelio Bodo of the HPG-Negros Oriental on Monday, March 31, and apologized for the stunt.

Jerome acknowledged the danger from doing the stunt just for content. 

“I apologize to those who got dragged in the video,” he said in the local dialect.

He assured that he would not make similar videos in the future.

Bodo said that the content creator may face public alarm and scandal charges.
