Police withheld the names of the victims and the driver.
Police Lt. Col. Ramel Sarona, head of the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), said the victims were taking a group picture (groufie) in the middle of the road when the pickup executed a turn to enter the village and hit them.
The 59-year-old driver, a resident of Barangay Sum-ag here, said that he did not notice the victims because of the bright sunlight.
Police said the fatality sustained head injuries and passed away in a hospital. Her two companions suffered minor injuries and are recuperating in the hospital.
Sarona said the driver is under police custody.
Police said they are awaiting the decision of the victims’ families if they will file a case against the driver.
