JobStart training strengthens workforce readiness for youth—DOLE
By Trixee Rosel

Training sessions aimed at enhancing the JobStart initiative sought to equip program implementers with the necessary skills to improve the workforce readiness of Filipino youth, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.
From Mar. 12 to 14 in Cebu City and Mar. 19 to 21 in Pampanga, the sessions brought together Public Employment Service Office (PESO) officers and program implementers to enhance their capacity to effectively deliver the revised Soft/Core Skills Training (SCST) module.
Focusing on developing essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability, the initiative targets young job seekers seeking to enhance their employability.
Dr. James Philip Ray V. Pinggolio, PhD, LPT, RGC, a field expert, led the sessions, providing valuable guidance on delivering the SCST modules effectively.
In addition to SCST, the sessions included a JobStart Advisory Orientation, updating participants on the program's developments, best practices, and the shift toward implementer-led training.
Participants also discussed strategies to institutionalize the JobStart program into law, addressing implementation challenges and ensuring its sustainability.
These efforts underscore the Department's commitment to building a robust support system that enhances the employment prospects of Filipino youth through focused skills development and employment facilitation.
