From playing a villain in the series "Lolong," Kapuso actor Martin Del Rosario puts on his heroic hat as he plays a SWAT officer in the film "Beyond the Call of Duty."

During the media conference held at the Bulwagan Hall of Camp Crame in Quezon City, Martin expressed his excitement about working again in this genre.

"Sobrang saya ko po kasi magiging parte ako ng pelikula na mag sho-showcase ng kabayanihan and anong klaseng serbisyo ang bininigay ng ating mga pulis. (I'm so happy because I'll be part of a film showcasing the heroism and service our police officers provide)," Martin said.

The actor also mentioned that he had played many police roles in his previous works, but this is the only project in which they were allowed to wear real uniforms and shoot in the restricted areas of Camp Crame.

"It's an honor to wear the sacred uniform of the Philippine National Police. Ito na siguro yung pinaka-nakakapressure kasi we're supervised by PNP talaga. Sila rin ang nagbigay ng go signal sa film na to. (It's an honor to wear the sacred uniform of the Philippine National Police. This is probably the most stressful because the PNP supervises us; they are the ones who gave the go signal for this film)," Martin added.

"Beyond the Call of Duty" is a compelling and emotionally charged feature film that pays tribute to the extraordinary courage of the men and women in uniform — those who serve the country with duty and heart.

Spearheaded by Director Jose Olinares Jr., the film is produced by PinoyFlix Entertainment and LCS Film Production.

Executive producers are former Narvacan, Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson, and his daughters, Stephanie Singson and Rep. Richelle Singson.

As one of the executive producers, Stephanie mentioned that the project is special because his dad (Chavit) was the chief of police in Vigan back in the ‘70s.

“That was his first time doing public service, and that’s why this film is close to his heart. Direk JR came to the house and presented the script and the story. It was easy for my dad to decide," Stephanie said.

Proceeds from the film will benefit the PNP-OLC Foundation, Inc. (OLFCI), an organization that supports the welfare, education, and empowerment programs for the families of Philippine National Police officers.

According to Direk JR Olinares, the film is not about glorifying the PNP; it's about showing compassion and love for the country and fellowmen. "This project is not meant to glorify the PNP. Kung ano man ang totoo, hango sa script that is fiction."

The director also thanked the PNP for helping them create the film. "Maraming salamat po sa DILG dahil sila po ang nagtulay sa amin para sa PNP. We also want to thank the Bureau of Fire Protection National Capital Region (NCR), Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), and PNP Officers Ladies Club Foundation. (Thank you very much to the DILG because they were the bridge for us for the PNP. We also want to thank the Bureau of Fire Protection National Capital Region (NCR), the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), and the PNP Officers Ladies Club Foundation."

The film will be released in cinemas on May 28 and screened in various PNP regions.

Direk JR hopes to go international on the streaming platform and put the film on Netflix to reach a wider audience.

"I want this film to level up with Hollywood productions, in terms of PNP SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) and the Intelligence Unit of CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group) and even the Command Center," he said.

Also joining Martin in the film are Paolo Gumabao, Maxine Trinidad, Christian Singson, Devon Seron, Martin Escudero, Migs Almendras, Simon Ibarra, Mark Neumann, Teejay Marquez, Alex Medina, and Jeffrey Santos.

Joining them are Ramon Christopher, Dindo Arroyo, Bella Thompson, Rob Sy,  Valerie Concepcion, Lovely Rivero, Sharmaine Santiago, Isaac Sabaw, Sahil Khan, and Prince Dajuma.
