CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - Police arrested a notorious 33-year-old alleged illegal firearms dealer in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Alibagu, City of Ilagan, Isabela on Wednesday, April 16.
The suspect, alias “Carding”, a resident of Barangay Banquero, Reina Mercedes, Isabela, was caught after he sold a firearm and ammunition to a police poseur-buyer.
ConfiscatedConfiscated from the suspect were one Caliber 9mm Taurus pistol, two steel magazines, and 15 bullets.
Carding will face charges for violating Section 32, Article V of Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Section 261(q), Article XXII of Batas Pambansa Blg. 881, or the Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines.
The suspect and the seized items were brought to the CIDG Isabela PFU office for proper documentation and disposition.
Police Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr., PRO-2 regional director, praised the efforts of the operatives and highlighted the importance of the operation.
“I’m proud of the hard work and teamwork shown by our personnel in this successful operation. Getting illegal firearms off our streets, especially now that elections are near, helps protect our communities and ensures a safer environment for everyone. We will continue to do our part to keep our region safe and secure,” he said.
