Droga kahit Semana Santa? PDEA seizes P1.02M 'shabu’ from 'nanlaban’ drug suspect

A “high-value” drug target was wounded while some P1.02 million worth of suspected “shabu” was seized during a buy-bust operation that went awry when the suspect allegedly fought it out with anti-narcotics agents in Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay on Maundy Thursday, April 17.
In a statement, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said that alias “Mike”, 35, sustained a gunshot wound in the left torso after engaging the operatives in a firefight while attempting to escape in Barangay Libertad.
Responding Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel immediately provided medical assistance before the suspect was transported to the nearest Rural Health Unit (RHU) for further treatment.
Authorities confiscated from the suspect 150 grams of suspected shabu, a caliber .45 Colt Remington pistol with live ammunition, a bundle of boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 bill, a red plastic sando bag, a black waist bag, P600 in cash, assorted identification cards, and several ATM cards.
The drug suspect faces charges for violation of Section 5 (sale of illegal drugs), Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” and Republic Act 10591 or “The Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”
The operation was carried out by PDEA Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office (ZSPO), Tungawan Municipal Police Station (MPS), 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC-ZBY), Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), and Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU).
