The 19-year-old World Cup veteran had 13 wins and two draws to finish ahead of Ukrainian Grandmaster Vitaly Bernardskiy and IM Dmytro Danylenko, who wound up second and third with 13.5 and 11 points, respectively.

For his feat, Concio pocketed 18,000 baht (around P30,000) and a trophy.

Another Filipino bet in FIDE Master Christian Gian Karlo Arca wound up fourth with 10 points.

In the premier open standard division, Arca’s GM-slaying ways came to a crashing halt after he succumbed to Macedonian GM Evgeny Romanov in the fifth round and sputtered in a big group of four pointers at seventh that included Concio, who drew with Czech GM Tomas Kraus.

Romanov’s win improved him to 4.5 points to seize a share of the lead that included IM Pau Bersamina, who downed Chinese Wei Yuyang.

Bersamina, a many-time Olympiad veteran, hopes to cling on to the lead as he was battling Indian GM Babu Lalit while Concio was clashing with German GM Jamn Gustafsson in the sixth round.

For Arca, he was tackling Thai IM Prin Laohawwirapap.
