ILOILO CITY — The local government reminded visitors at world-famous Boracay Island that the annual party ban on Good Friday lasts until Black Saturday.

In Memorandum Order No. 2025-33, Mayor Frolibar Bautista of Malay town in Aklan province said the annual ban will last until 6 a.m. on April 19.
During a sendoff of security personnel on Maundy Thursday, authorities reminded management of bars and resorts that they will face penalty if they are hosting parties by playing loud music.
Bautista said this annual ban is a sign of respect with the Christian world which is marking the death of Jesus Christ.
The Malay Town Council passed the resolution that bans parties and loud music in Boracay in respect for Christian traditions in 2009.
Catholic visitors spending the Holy Week in Boracay can go to Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish Church in Barangay Balabag to reflect.
