Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has assured its customers of stable, reliable, and continuous
electricity service with personnel ready to attend to customer concerns throughout the observance of the Holy Week.
“We join the nation in observing a solemn and safe Holy Week. As a 24/7 service provider, we assure our customers
that our crews are fully prepared to respond to any power-related concerns that may arise,” Meralco Vice President
and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga said.
With the Holy Week coinciding with the dry season, Meralco also reminded the public to continue practicing
electrical safety and energy efficiency for a safe and worry-free break. Practical tips to observe include the following:
• Unplug unused appliances especially when going away for several days
• Refrain from using “octopus connections” or plugging in extension cords into a single power outlet as this
could overheat and result in fire and other accidents
• Avoid placing and running electrical cords under rugs or carpets as constantly walking on these could
damage the insulation of the wires
• Keep electrical wires and cords organized, tucked, and stored away properly
• Keep electrical equipment and devices away from showers, sinks, and tubs
Meralco also empowers its customers to better manage their electricity use with the help of the Appliance Calculator
available in the My Meralco app, which provides information on the power consumption of gadgets and appliances.
While Meralco Business Centers will be closed from April 17 (Maundy Thursday) to April 20 (Easter Sunday),
