BACOLOD CITY – A 49-year-old farmer was shot and killed by three unidentified gunmen in Sitio Bairan, Barangay Gen. Luna, Toboso, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, April 15.

Police said the victim was resting inside his home when gunfire erupted outside.
The victim tried to flee by jumping out a window but the perpetrators pursued and caught up with him.
He was shot and succumbed to multiple bullet wounds.
Police recovered five .45 caliber cartridges in the crime scene.
Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, a member of the New People's Army (NPA) recently turned himself in to the police in Isabela, Negros Occidental.
The rebel returnee was 54-year-old alias Ronald, a laborer and a resident of Barangay San Agustin, Isabela town.
A report from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office said he was recruited to join the armed struggle in 2016.
He supported the NPA until 2020 by allegedly soliciting money from the community, providing food, and other available basic needs for the insurgents.
Ronald was allowed to go home, pending the processing of the government programs he could avail himself of.
