'Damay-damay tayo dito': Aberin orders police commanders to personally supervise NCR Holy Week security

Police Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), ordered all police commanders to personally supervise the police visibility and other security measures in Metro Manila as the main bulk of Filipino travelers start to troop to transportation hubs, churches and other places of convergence for the Holy Week.
And Aberin’s instruction to the police commanders is to join their men on the ground until such time that Metro Manila residents and workers go back to work after the Holy Week break and those who went on vacation in Manila go back to their respective provinces.
“My instruction is for senior police leaders of the NCRPO to hit the ground daily to ensure close supervision to deployed personnel. I want an NCRPO that is truly seen, heard and felt by the community towards the goal of a safe, secure and solemn Holy Week,” said Aberin.
Since Tuesday, April 15, Aberin led the inspection of several transportation hubs and places of convergence, starting with the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), where he assessed the readiness of deployed personnel and reinforced police visibility.
Aberin reviewed the deployment of uniformed personnel, checked the accessibility of assistance desks, and evaluated the efficiency of surveillance and monitoring systems during the inspection.
On Wednesday, April 16, he led the inspection in bus terminals in Cubao area in Quezon City.
The NCRPO earlier mobilized over 10,000 policemen to secure Metro Manila, particularly transport hubs, churches, tourist destinations, major thoroughfares, and other critical areas.
“These officers are tasked with conducting anti-criminality operations, implementing target-hardening measures, managing traffic flow, and providing essential public safety services,” said Aberin.
He also assured the Metro Manila residents that there will be a sufficient number of policemen that will implement security measures in residential areas.
Aberin advised the riding public to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities, and cooperate with authorities, especially in crowded places and transport hubs.
He also advised the public to follow the travel safety measures, including calmness and patience on the road to avoid road rage and other violent activities.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil earlier placed all police forces across the country under heightened alert status.
