DASOL, Pangasinan – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued nine fishermen from a half-submerged fishing vessel in the West Philippine Sea here on Tuesday night.

BRP Cabra received initial information regarding distressed fishing boat F/B Rickmar 1 with nine crew members onboard, including the captain, Arnel Dumanat, at around 6:42 p.m. west of Tambobong Point.
The vessel’s owner, Gessler Ruizoz, 43, of Barangay Cato, Infanta, Pangasinan, was notified of the situation and assured that F/B Trinidad will assist with towing operations.
BRP Cabra successfully reached F/B Rickmar 1, rescued the crew, and began coordinating for towing assistance with F/B Trinidad at around 11:18 p.m. on April 15.
The two vessels met in the sea of Colibra Island, Dasol to ensure a safer transfer.
On April 16, PCG aluminum boat 135 fetched and transported the rescued fishermen from F/B Trinidad to the shoreline of Brangay Cato, Infanta, ensuring their safe return to land.
The rescued fishermen were provided with initial medical attention by the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Infanta.
Rescued fishermen have been turned over to their families.
